Paying homage to one of the greatest musicians of all time, the Ray Charles Tribute Orchestra is a nine piece ensemble performing the hits made famous by the Soul legend.

Formed by musical director and bassist John Gray, who toured with the Ray Charles Orchestra, this ensemble of fine musicians recreates the blues, soul and gospel fusion sound of Ray Charles, performing such hits as 'Georgia On My Mind', 'Mary Ann', 'Hit the Road Jack' and 'Let the Good Times Roll'.

Donald Ray Johnson is featured on lead vocals. After some 40 years, this Texas born bluesman is still going strong. He is a Grammy award winner and is twice a Maple Blues Award nominee.

Johnson will be backed up by a group of excellent Alberta musicians, including John Gray on bass, whose musical history includes performances with Dr. Clarence 'Big' Miller, Lenny Breau, and Dexter Gordon among others. Oaitse Hellard and Melissa Jarvis will provide the backup vocals that are an indispensable part of the Charles' r&b sound.
