ELECTRIC EEL SHOCK left their native Japan in 1999 to see what they could make of America and they have been on a near constant world tour ever since. Headlining a stage in 2003 at the prestigious Roskilde Festival in Denmark was a key early event for the band. They played SXSW in 2002, 2003, 2005 and again in 2012. By 2004 EES had toured 27 countries around the world and they decided it was about time to release an album:GO EUROPE! became the first commercially available EES release and the band performed at 30 European Summer Festivals.
Follow up albums BEAT ME (2005) & TRANSWORLD ULTRA ROCK (2007) were both recorded in Holland with legendary producer Attie Bauw (Judas Priest, Scorpions, Bootsy Collins etc). These 2 albums achieved much critical acclaim from press and fans alike and EES continued to conquer the international musical scene step by step throughout 2005 and 2008 adding Australia and parts of Asia to their widening travels.
In 2008 Electric Eel Shock joined Sellaband to raise the funds to record their next album Sugoi Indeed raising $50,000 in record time. Sugoi Indeed is an album full of classic rock hand-crafted in Japan. Attie Bauw, was on hand to assist again, this time he engineered the basic tracks as Electric Eel Shock took over the production reins on the album themselves. The album was licensed to several labels around the world and was released in October 2009.
After their last EU tour in 2010-2011, the band has been concentrating on Japan and Asia for a period. They also released their live album Live Around The World vol.1 in Japan only. In 2012 and 2013 the band again toured the US extensively playing SXSW 2012 and Fun Fun Fun Festival in Austin.
For their latest project a double album of Best Of and Covers, the band decided that working directly with their fans was the essence of Electric Eel Shock. Kazuto, the bassist of Electric Eel Shock launched the crowd funding site called “Fan-Bo.com” in Japan. Fans not only funded the double album they also chose the songs and were involved in every step. The Best Of album is a massive album – covering household names and the obscure. It has 26 songs, clocking in at over 75min, long enough to give you a full understanding of what EES is all about.
