In 1870, the Scottish people of the Edmonton area created the St. Andrew's Society to help sustain their culture through social, cultural and sporting activities. A similar group, the Caledonia Society, was established in 1904. The two societies amalgamated in 1938, and became incorporated as the Edmonton Scottish Society in 1949.
